4024
4024 focuses on a speculative scenario, in which a bioengineering technology can shrink human body to only 15cm in height in 4024 to reduce the consumption of food and energy. I got my inspiration from the film Downsizing and envisioned an archaeological discovery to unearth a collection of jewellery from 2024 AD.
These jewellery are freed from their past categories. They become body pieces that allow the wearer to interact with them in different ways. When we put on these pieces that are 11 times as large as normal, we are made to feel small.
Drawing on five archetypal jewellery in this day, I focus on the conceptual and symbolic nature of jewellery to create wearable artefacts/sculptures that act as the critique on contemporary values.
